چکیده

The genus Stapelia belongs to the family Asclepiadaceae, which comprises a group of some 50 species, which have been used in medicine for their anti-inflammatory and antiarithritic properties . The presence of alkaloids in the genus Stapelia was first reported by Keller , where hordenine was isolated from the aerial part of S. gigantea. In addition, Meyer et al. reported the detection of N -methyl tyramine, choline and candicine in the aerial parts of S. gigantea. Several pigments have been identified in the flowers of different Stapelia species . Cyanidin-3-monoglucoside, cyanidin-3-rutinoside and cyanidin-3-sophoroside were identified in S. vareigata, S. comparabilis and S. ambigua, while cyanidin-3-rustinoside was the only pigment detected in S. nobilis. In a continuation of our interest in members of the family Asclepiadaceae 5−9, we investigated the chloroformic fraction of the aerial parts S. hirsuta and we report our findings herein. In this paper, we describe the isolation and identification of a new pyrano pyridine-dione alkaloid, in addition to the isolation of apigenin, luteolin and β-sitosterol-3-O-glucoside from the chloroformic fraction of the aerial parts of the plant.

Model for Short Term Movements in Stapelia variegata Linn.

Recently it was demonstrated that holographic interferometry could be used to quantify minute displacements of a mature Stapelia variegata Linn. The previously unobtainable measurements revealed that the short term response of the stapelia was regular enough so that the dynamics could be evaluated through the use of a highly damped mass, spring, dashpot model. Such a model is derived explicitly...

Mitotic Block of Human Blood Cells by Vinca herbacea, Catharanthus roseus and Colchicine Alkaloids

Catharanthus roseus (L.) G.Don is a plant which produces anticancer and anti-mitotic indole alkaloids. Colchicine is an anti-mitotic drug. Anti-mitotic effects of Vinca herbacea Waldst. & Kit. indole alkaloids is unknown. The study were evaluated the antimitotic effect of alkaloids of V. herbacea, Catharanthus roseus andcolchicineon mitosis and microtubule arrangement of human blood cells. In t...

First molecular identification of Sarcocystis hirsuta in Iranian beef: A case report

Introduction: The main agents of sarcocystosis in cattle as an intermediate host include S. cruzi, S. hominis and S. hirsuta. A sensitive and specific tool such as molecular-based techniques would be necessary to identify the species. Case report: After collection of beef sample from Yazd slaughterhouse, DNA extraction was done with salting out method. The 18SrRNA gene as a specific target ...

First detection of Sarcocystis hirsuta from cattle in Iran

Although the high infection rate of microscopic sarcocyst occurs in cattle, to the best of our knowledge, there is no report about the identification of macroscopic sarcocyst in Iran. In this work, Sarcosystis hirsutawas first isolated from slaughtered cattle. In a 2-year-old slaughtered cattle, morphological examinationrevealed 3-5 mm in length cysts distributed in different striated muscles, p...
